Types Of Sudamina Or Miliaria Crystallina Sweat RashesThere are eight types of sudamina or miliaria crystallina sweat rashes. Each type of sweat rash is classified by the level of obstruction that has occured in the glands or pores.
Types Of Sudamina Or Miliaria Crystallina Sweat Rashes
- 1.) Miliaria crystalline
- 2.) Miliaria rubra
- 3.) Miliaria profunda
- 4.) Miliaria pustulosa
- 5.) Postmiliarial hypohidrosis
- 6.) Tropical anhidrotic asthenia
- 7.) Occlusion miliaria
- 8.) Colloid milium
Type 1: Miliaria Crystalline Sweat Rash. Colorless BlistersMiliaria Crystalline, also known as a Miliaria Crystalline or Sudamina rash is the least severe form of sweat rash. The blisters with this kind of rash are superficial and usually colorless with little to no inflammation or irritation.
The small blisters or lesions may resemble beads of sweat or perspiration or be asymptomatic and cause no symptoms at all.
If you spot this type of sweat rash it's a good idea to keep the area clean and dry so that it doesn't become inflamed or irritated and become a more severe form of sweat rash.
Type 2: Miliaria Rubra Sweat Rash. "Prickly Heat" Or "Heat Rash"Miliaria Rubra sweat rash is the most common type of rash. With Miliaria Rubra the obstruction of the glands cause them to leak into the deeper skin or epidermis layers, causing inflammation.
The inflammation this blockage causes turns the skin a red color with larger blisters than the first type of sweat rash.
A Miliaria Rubra sweat rash may feel like pins or needles pricking the skin and the blockage of the glands may prevent the production of sweat, causing perspiration not to form in areas it normally would.
This type of Sudamina rash is sometimes called prickly heat or heat rash due to the burning sensation the epidermal inflammation can bring.
Type 3: Miliaria Profunda Sweat Rash. Mammillaria, Or "Wildfire"Miliaria Profunda sweat rash is sometimes referred to as wildfire because with this type of rash, the inflammation spreads quickly causing a red, painfully burning rash. Miliaria Profunda sweat rashes are usually the result of chronic Miliaria Rubra rashes. The obstruction of the glands in this case is even deeper, causing leakage from the glands into the skin layers. Being deeper within the skin layers, rather than red inflamed skin, a Miliaria Profunda sweat rash will produce whiter blisters or papules and will be more the color of the skin. This type of rash is also known as Mammillaria.
Type 4: Miliaria Pustulosa Sweat Rash "Pustule" Or "Pus Filled" BlistersMiliaria Pustulosa sweat rash is more severe. Pustules, meaning pus filled blisters is where its name is derived.
The blockage in this type of rash is so severe that it has actually become destructive to the skin cells due to the inflammation and infection from the bacteria or dead skin blocking the sweat glands.
Type 5: Postmiliarial Hypohidrosis Sweat RashPostmiliarial Hypohidrosis sweat rash is an even more severe type of rash due to blockage of ducts and pores in the skin.
Postmiliarial Hypohidrosis sweat rashes are so severe it may keep a person from even being able to do any kind of work in an environment that causes them to perspire
Type 6: Tropical Anhidrotic Asthenia Sweat Rash. "Extended Blockages"Tropical Anhidrotic Asthenia sweat rash is a rare type of miliaria where the sweat glands or skin pores are blocked for a longer period and heat is retained within the skin layers causing hypohidrosis, or dimished sweating.
Hypohidrosis can lead to more severe conditions, such as hyperthermia, heat stroke or heat exhaustion which could be fatal and lead to death.
If Tropical Anhidrotic Asthenia, or Hypohidrosis is suspected all physical activities should be stopped immediately and medical attention may need to be sought out.
Type 7: Occlusion Miliaria Sweat Rash. "Complete & Extended Blockage"Occlusion Miliaria sweat rash is named Occlusion due to the complete blockage of the sweat glands and skin pores.
Anhidrosis goes along with Occlusion Miliaria rashes and the blockage lasts an even longer period of time. This type of rash is far more rare than the previous types.
Type 8: Colloid Milium Sweat Rash. "Dome Shaped Papules"Colloid Milium sweat rash is the most severe type of rash, with colorless or amber or flesh colored dome shaped papule's between one to five millimeters in size. This is by far the most rare.
